Mac OS X Lion has a new feature that lets you add a custom message to your login screen. It's easy to set up, and a good way to provide contact information in the event you lose your computer.
Watch the video above to learn how to set it up, or just follow these steps:
- Open up System Preferences and click on Users & Groups.
- Click the lock at the bottom of the screen to make changes and enter your username and password when prompted.
- Click on Login options and set the Automatic Login drop down menu to "Off".
- Go back to the main system preferences page and click on Security & Privacy.
- Choose the General tab (if it isn't chosen already).
- Click the lock at the bottom of the screen to make changes and enter your username and password when prompted.
- Check the box next to "Show a message when the screen is locked" and enter any message you'd like.
That's it! Now when anyone sees the login screen they'll be able to see your custom message, complete with contact information if you wish.
