Holistic Living Tips

What is holistic? It is defined as 'emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts' Keeping that in mind, how can we approach everything in our lives in a holistic manner? How can we be inclusive and not exclusive in our thinking, and how can we bring balance and wellness to our lives?

Taking a holistic approach to our lives is bold. It means being authentic to ourselves and questioning if we are doing things to impress our neighbors or friends ( such as eating at fast food restaurants because your mates do). Holistic living is living in its boldest. It is not a fad, nor is it a way to change your persona. It is a homage to your true self.

One of the first things I have my clients do is to write out their priorities. Most people know what they want, when they sit down and think about it. Many say health, happiness, and a wonderful family life and career.

I ask them how much time they want to spend on each, and that can cause some confusion. The thing is that all of these components affect eachother, so if one is deprived of proper attention, all end up failing. For example, if someone overworks, that throws out their health and family time. Keeping this in mind, we can sum up a few things that will make our lives easier:

If we have a job we dislike and/or overworks, our lives are thrown off balance

If we fail to eat well and take appropriate supplements, our physical wellbeing suffers and so does our work and family life

If we are ignoring our families or having conflicts, this will distract us from our work cause us to binge

There are other components to our lives of course, and these too need to be taken into consideration if we are to find balance.

Society's general message is in fact to overwork the individual, split up the family, and make people unhealthy and overconsumers, As drastic as this may seem, if you take a look at society, it is beyond obvious. Extreme marketing and agendas get pushed on us, and we need to be bold when taking into account our needs and the importance of a holistic approach to living. Some families, such as the Nielson's ( of Nie Nie dialogues) start a lifestyle blog to show others what they value most, which is often the importance of family and wellness.

Having home cooked meals and incorporating fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as herbal teas, can give us great boosts of energy and Chinese herbs can help one adjust to stress. If we want to help stay in a good mood, getting appropriate sleep and taking amino acid supplements ( if one has an imbalance) can greatly give a person a start on the road wellness. holistic approach
